UNESCO Charity-Gala for Children in Need

UNESCO Director and UNESCO special Ambassador Dr. h.c. Ute-Henriette Ohoven invite to celebrate the International UNESCO Charity Gala for Children in Need which has been held since 1992.

1,000 international VIP guests from different fields including economy, culture, politics, sports, film and media attend at this colourful event.

Some of the past patrons for the gala have been: His Holiness the Dalai Lama, H.M. Queen Noor of Jordan, Michael Schumacher, H.H. Prince Talal Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, H.R.H. Marie Teresa of Luxembourg, Sir Peter Ustinov, Chancellor Dr. Helmut Kohl, Sir Bob Geldof, Jane Fonda, Tommy Hilfiger, Forest Whitaker, Goldie Hawn, H.I.M. Farah Diba Pahlavi, Eva & Roberto Cavalli, Dame Helen Mirren, Placido Domingo, Don Johnson and many others.

The stars at our galas were e.g. Dame Shirley Bassey, Dionne Warwick, Montserrat Caballé, Shakira, Jessica Simpson, Eros Ramazotti, Lionel Richie, Paul Anka, Ronan Keating, Zucchero and Robin Gibb.

During the gala we have a ceremony in which we honour selected outstanding personalities for their engagement for the world’s society. They will be honoured with the statue support from Lorenzo Quinn.

All stars and patrons perform during the gala without receiving any fee.

More than 120 international and national journalists and photographers including 22 TV-teams and radio stations are accredited to attend this event. According to the newspaper “USA TODAY” this gala is recognized as one of the top ten events worldwide.

With these donations it is possible for the UNESCO’s Children in Need Programme to cover more than 362 projects in 95 countries and provides children a future by educating them in an individual way. Professional trainings, schools, and diverse projects help to rescue the children from a miserable life and early death.
